5-50 Gallery is pleased to announce Off-Kilter, an exhibition featuring works by Lesley Bodzy, Ann Marie Auricchio, and Debbi Kenote. The show will run from January 11th - February 23rd, 2025, with an opening reception on January 11th from 4–7 PM. Off-Kilter explores how contemporary art challenges traditional ideas of symmetry, structure, and materiality through irregular forms and unconventional techniques.
Ann Marie Auricchio explores the relationship between internal emotions and external forces in her organically shaped paintings. Using abstract gestures and imagined geological and atmospheric phenomena, her works convey the tension between natural upheavals and personal challenges. Auricchio’s art invites viewers to contemplate the interplay of emotion and environment.
Lesley Bodzy’s work examines psychological experiences through her use of materials such as resin, silicone, and acrylics. Her multi-dimensional pieces bridge painting, relief, and sculpture, reflecting themes of vulnerability, strength, and societal pressures. By layering and manipulating materials, Bodzy creates works that challenge assumptions about form and texture.
Debbi Kenote combines painting and sculpture to craft distorted, floating shapes that seem to float and shift in space. Drawing on her background in both disciplines, Kenote’s works oscillate between structure and play, offering viewers a chance to navigate their emotional and spatial impact.. Her use of vibrant colors, geometric forms, and layered compositions invites viewers to navigate disorienting and playful visual landscapes that blur the boundaries between structure and fluidity.
Off-Kilter presents a compelling dialogue between material, form, and perception. From Bodzy’s textured surfaces to Auricchio’s layered abstractions and Kenote’s spatial distortions, the exhibition highlights the diverse ways artists redefine traditional boundaries in art.
