5-50 Gallery is thrilled to announce OFF THE GRID a group show featuring the works of Eridan, Cara Lynch, Paige Beeber, Devon Reina, and Kyle Gallagher. The exhibition will be open from June 1 through June 29, offering an exploration of abstraction, materiality, and the boundaries of artistic expression. Each artist brings their own perspective to the exhibition, offering viewers a journey through the realms of innovative mark-making, conceptual exploration, and the dynamic interplay of form and color.

Kyle Gallagher’s artworks stand out with their sharp-angled 'Neo Gothic' biker script intertwined with moldy graffiti tags and an anarchic comix attitude. His creations, grounded in both popular imagery and abstraction, resonate deeply with our era's shifting certainties. Gallagher's non-narrative pieces focus on the formal aspects of painting, presenting bold designs, unexpected colors, and compositions that embody the most 'now of now' in contemporary painting.

Paige Beeber kaleidoscopic abstract paintings that mimic the intricate patterns of textiles. Utilizing a diverse array of materials such as oil, spray, acrylic paints, inks, dyes, and found objects, Beeber’s large-scale, detailed works are a testament to her distinctive mark-making. Her abstract and geometric patterns, reminiscent of needlework, create a tapestry that reflects the harmony and discord of contemporary life, linking her to a lineage of artisans within her family history.

Brooklyn-based abstract artist Devon Reina's work challenges viewers to engage with the delicate balance between looking and seeing, interpreting and re-interpreting the intricate manipulations on his canvases. His background in product design informs his collaborative relationship with his materials, resulting in ethereal works that evoke movement, distance, and light, inviting viewers into a captivating exploration of perception and visual interpretation.

Cara Lynch’s paintings are fractured abstractions inspired by flora collected around her studio and her own sculptural objects. Using neon and highly saturated colors alongside darker hues, Lynch creates psychological landscapes that oscillate between daydream and nightmare. Her exploration of the literary term “Pathetic Fallacy” attributes human emotion and action to nature, while her sculptural works interact with the wind, considering agency and animation. Lynch’s paintings view the wind as both an emotional state and a force to be contended with.

Eridan, the collaborative duo of Brooklyn-based artists Eri King and Daniel Greer, have been exploring everyday objects through artistic mediums collaboratively since 2015. Their multidisciplinary practice spans drawing, painting, sculpture, textiles, installation, sound, performance, and video. Inspired by Zen Buddhism, their work delves into non-duality, the present moment, and the relinquishment of ego. Their work explores duality and oneness in collaboration as a conceptual process and utilizes geometry and symmetry to produce visual harmony. The orchestra of lines, curves, and colors accumulate into repetitive shapes and patterns that translate an energy of elevation, radiance, abundance, and balance. Their syncretic approach connects disparate ideas into a constellation of meaning, reflecting both the banal and the grand.

OFF THE GRID invites audiences to experience a diverse array of contemporary art practices that challenge conventional perceptions and explore the dynamic interplay of form, color, and materiality.
